First off, prescription *anything* should be avoided unless you can't survive without it. Second off, the best diet pills are the ones you don't take - and here's why.

Mother nature never intended for rapid weight loss. It is counter evolutionary. Mother nature also never intended for obesity and McDonald's, so that is also an issue. But in the end, it is your own choices in diet and exercise that affect your weight. If chances are that you have a genetic issue with, say, your thyroid gland or something, and you pack on weight abnormally, then OK - take some prescription diet pills. But just be careful with these things.

The issue with prescription diet pills is that they are so strong they can hurt your body. My mom took Metabolife a while back and even though those weren't prescription diet pills, they messed up her heart and now she's dealing with arrythmias and such. And my mom was an athlete in college! She just got lazy and wanted a quick fix.

So, the lesson? The lesson is the choice is yours and the key to weight loss is not in a pill.
